I am an engaging science educator helping students develop skills with confidence. It is important to me that each student feels heard and knows that I care about their learning. During sessions, you can expect individualized attention on your unique questions with expert explanations and plenty of additional practice. After a friendly greeting, we'll talk about what is going on in your course/studies, identify your goals (big and small), and get to work addressing your questions in a methodical and engaging way. Small group and one-on-one settings are my favorite because of the opportunity to build rapport and understand each learner individually. Depending on student needs, I can also gauge prior knowledge and provide mastery checks. With 8 years of high school teaching experience, I believe that I can help you succeed.
Over the course of 8 years in the classroom, I taught chemistry, honors chemistry, physical science, physics, and honors physics. With each lesson, I brought positive energy and provided students with ample opportunities to engage and ask questions. My students benefited from an environment with clear examples, followed by plenty of practice and support. In addition to guiding students through complex problem-solving, my courses included hands-on lab activities (molar mass of dry ice, endothermic/exothermic reaction bags, titrations, and more) that we discussed and analyzed together to help students make solid connections between observable phenomena and course content. I am well-versed in helping students with accommodations and with a wide range of skills and interests. I tutored privately on and off during those 8 years, helping students and their families gain confidence and peace of mind.
I hold both B.S. (Saint Mary's College) and M.S. (Ohio University) degrees in chemistry with undergraduate minors in education and physics. During my time as an undergraduate, I worked as a teaching assistant and lab assistant for a variety of courses. This involved helping students during laborator
