Hi, my name's Caleb! I graduated summa cum laude in my university's honors program with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre, alongside minors in Dance and Communication Studies. Since graduating, I have built up a strong resume of performing credits with leading names in entertainment, including Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort, as well as a number of regional theaters and film/commercial producers. Teaching others based on my lived experience in the industry has become a serious passion of mine, as I seek to build up students whether they are looking for professional assistance that will help put them on the path to success, or they're simply interested in exploring a new hobby or after-school activity.

My teaching and tutoring experience extends back to high school, when I helped my theatre troupe initiate drama camp days for local elementary students to teach them in a variety of arts-related classes. In college, I took up a leadership position within the resident improv troupe, Fearless ShenANYgans, where I helped to train new members and hold public practice days for anyone interested to come and learn with us. More recently, I have traveled to partner as a teaching artist with institutions like Zach Theater in Austin, where I've worked with students of all ages from Pre-K to high school on subjects including acting, singing, improvisation, and sketch writing.

On the musical side of things, I've been playing piano and singing for over twenty years, having started my training at a very early age. I've worked with jazz ensembles at both high school and university levels, and have served as an assistant music director on a variety of staged musical productions. I'm very flexible on meeting you at your level and offering help on more particular topics like audition prep, music theory, sheet music comprehension/composition, and sight-reading.

I always prioritize responding in a timely manner, so please shoot me a message if you'd like to ask a question or schedule a lesson!

Acting

Acting

I have worked with numerous productions on stage and on camera, with over a decade of training and experience under my belt. I utilize many standard acting techniques, including the likes of Meisner, Chekhov, Stanislavski, and Laban, to collaborate with others and find something that works for them. Additionally, I have access to a vast library of scripts for both stage and screen that can be accessed for scene work and monologues as needed. My personal industry experience allows for an in-depth approach to the work that can aid students in preparing for upcoming auditions, productions, and class assignments whether they are at a beginner or a professional level.
General Music

General Music

I possess a strong background in music theory that has extended across a plethora of performance types, including solo recitals, choral groups, jazz band performances, and musical theatre performances for both on-stage vocalists and pit orchestras. I am well-trained in sight-reading sheet music in a number of different clefs, and have experience composing my own pieces as well as transposing existing pieces through notation apps such as MuseScore. I've amassed a number of techniques over my many years in the industry that have been used to assist others in furthering their abilities as musicians, regardless of if they are just starting out or have been practicing for years. Additionally, my diverse background also extends to topics surrounding music appreciation, for those looking to expand their knowledge of the broader musical world as a whole.
Piano

Piano

As someone who has been playing piano for nearly my entire life, I am passionate about sharing my teachings with students of all ages and experience levels to help them experience the joy of playing piano as well as the discipline of learning the intricacies of this complex and layered instrument. My background includes many different experiences working in the genres of classical, contemporary, jazz, and musical theatre, under many different positions as a performer, accompanist, and music director. I am passionate about helping newcomers learn to read sheet music, understand keys, and replicate chord structures, as well as aiding more experienced students with furthering their abilities to sight-read, improvise, and tackle more complex pieces.
Sight Singing

Sight Singing

As a longtime choir singer and student myself, I have built up a strong skill for sight singing that I have used to teach and aid others looking to build upon their own skills. I have worked with both beginners and experienced professionals to help them with their comprehension of sheet music in a variety of clefs, as well as their ability to identify relative pitch and common challenges like key changes. Beyond choral sight singing, my expertise also covers a more musical theatre-based approach to sight-reading that can aid students in their auditions, callbacks, rehearsals, and class assignments that frequently demand learning, understanding, and performing large amounts of music within very short and strict deadlines.
Theater

Theater

My background as a lifelong theater performer has allowed me a dynamic range of experiences that I use to inform my approach to the subject. Those looking to improve for their next school play, community production, or even Broadway callback can all benefit from my vast knowledge on audition techniques (both in-person and virtual), character work, dramaturgy, and intricacies of the business of theatre. With years of theater education under my belt, I can aid students in a multitude of areas relating to acting, singing, dancing, puppeteering, improvising, dialect work, and writing and performing comedy; for those interested in the backstage side of things, my experiences as a director, music director, choreographer, writer, and stage manager allow for an understanding of and appreciation for all aspects of the theater. My time in the industry has led to professional bookings with big names like Disney and Universal Studios, as well as the opportunity to perform on a Broadway stage, so I'm thrilled to pass along advice that can help hopefuls of all ages on the path to their dreams.
