Hello and welcome!
My name is Rebecca and I am a 3rd grade Intervention Specialist Coteacher. I have worked as a contained classroom teacher in a low incidence resource room to students with Autism, ADHD and Developmental Delay. I began my official teaching career over six years ago, specializing in mild to moderate disabilities within inclusion and small group settings. Over the last few years I felt drawn to students with moderate - intensive disabilities and helping them reach milestones through daily support, reteaching and repetition. Prior to officially teaching, I worked as a direct aide, classroom aide and long term substitute teacher for over 7 years in grades PK-12.
My teaching style includes patience, clarifying directions, asking open ended questions to encourage a growth mindset and giving just enough push to keep students succeeding and learning without entering frustration level. I find that my students respond positively and I keep open communication with the parents or guardians through all learning.
I hold a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education with a Master's in Special Education. My license supports PK-12 both mild moderate and moderate intensive needs. I teach ELA, reading, phonics, Math, social emotional learning, vocational job skills, Science and Social Studies. The grade levels I have most experience with is PK-8 and I enjoy getting to know the student, their learning style and what motivates them to be as successful as possible.
