My name is Joshua, and I learned Russian while I was serving in the United States Navy. I have a pretty good grasp on spoken Russian and even better with writing reading and listening. I can help you obtain any level of proficiency in Russian up to being able to live and work there. I know I am not a certified teacher, but I have plenty of experience under my belt tutoring others in Russian. As a linguist in the Navy I was required to maintain a high level of fluency in Russian in order to do my job, and while I held leadership positions I had the opportunity to assist all my peers in staying fluent. I organized study groups and I learned that I loved to help others with their Russian. I can bring this same passion for helping to my tutoring sessions. If you aren't near me, don't worry, I can tutor over Skype or Google Hangouts.
I received a certification in Russian from the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center in Monterey California, and continued to use the Russian Language for another 5 years after that during my time in the U.S. Navy.
I love art, I have been drawing since I was a very young boy. I have had my art shown in galleries and art shows and I sell my work on line.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received a certificate in Russian from the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center. I used Russian at work for 5 years after that and held study groups consistently during that time to help my peers maintain their required levels of fluency at work. I attended refresher training at the Global Language Center in Maryland and at Berlitz.
