I am well educated 50 year old man with decades worth of classroom teaching and private tutoring experience. I have a bachelor's degree in science education from the Ohio State University. After undergrad, I attended Trinity Lutheran Seminary where I earned a Master's of Divinity. After teaching middle school and high school for 10 years, I returned to school and earned a Ph.D. in sport and exercise management from Ohio State as well as an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. After completing these degrees I worked in corporate America for Dow Chemical and Abbott Labs in product management and brand manager roles. In 2019, I resumed my teaching and coaching career (football, basketball, and baseball).

I have logged thousands of hours tutoring the ACT and SAT, although the past decade I have done a lot more ACT than SAT work. I consider myself to be an expert tutor and have helped hundreds of students improve their score. What I might be most proud of, though, is that I helped my current HS son improve his score from the mid 20's to a 35. Currently, I tutor a few "big city" students via FaceTime each week (they live in Columbus where I used to live, but now I live in a small town). I decided to join this platform in order to try and find students from a wider geography and I look forward to meeting new students.

My approach is simple, in that I get to know the student, assess their goals, then put together a plan of attack. With standardized tests this means a general analysis of student ability and then focusing on areas where the most help is needed. For students who have tested before, I always use their score and item report to help hone in on specific areas. Inevitably, no matter what I am tutoring, I use repetition, practice, and repeatability with students.
