Algebra 1

My knowledge of Algebra spans junior high, high school and college level. For years I have helped students understand how to solve equations, graph functions and master polynomials. I am confident I can help you or your student understand and excel in Algebra.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

In Algebra 2, I have extensively tutored factoring, quadratics, polynomials, logarithms, rational equations, and radical functions. My experience also includes systems of equations, exponents, matrices, sequences and many other concepts covered in Algebra 2. If needed, I do supply students with additional practice before quizzes and finals. My students are always welcome to call me or text me with math related questions.
ASVAB

ASVAB

When I started math tutoring I had no idea I would get into ASVAB tutoring. But I did and I love it! Each of the students I have worked with has passed the ASVAB. It's important to keep in mind that your score will not only impact your entrance but also your eligibility for bonuses and special assignments.
Geometry

Geometry

I have helped many students turn their geometry grades around. First students must know how to solve equations since this will be incorporated into many of the problems. When it comes to building proofs I have found that it's important for students to first memorize the theorems. Then we walk through different kinds of proofs. Observing how different kinds of proofs are laid out really helps students grasp the process involved. If needed, I provide students with additional practice on any concepts before quizzes or tests.

Microsoft Word is a program I have used for a variety of writing tasks: letters, resumes and all kinds of documents. My skills include formatting, page layout and saving documents with different file extensions. I'm also pretty good at yelling at the monitor when needed.

With ten years of experience playing piano and two years of music theory, I am prepared to tutor piano. Finger position, keeping time and key changes are important to learn in addition to reading notes and knowing how to find their corresponding keys. Music should not only be structured and challenging, it should be fun. I bring all three elements to the table.

When it comes to Pre-Algebra I try to break each concept down so it's easy to understand. Often I will use color and pictures to help students get the concepts. Since Pre-Algebra provides a crucial foundation for high school math, it's imperative that students be able to work with integers, polynomials, proportions, know how to graph and solve order of operations. Each of these concepts will get more in depth as they continue learning. Math can be fun and interesting. :)

Trig is an incredibly useful branch of mathematics. It's used by pasta designers, machinists, oceanographers and physicists. My strategy for helping students memorize the unit circle has consistently been successful. I always try to tie Trigonometry into other concepts the student already understands.

Smart, effective and encouraging

Elizabeth is an amazing tutor. My daughter doesn’t love math and used to struggle through her homework, studying for tests etc. Elizabeth has totally changed the way my daughter approaches and solves math problems. Elizabeth’s comprehensive tutoring style also uncovered my daughter’s weak spots in math from previous school years. My daughter is so much more confident in math now. Elizabeth is also consistently positive and encouraging, which makes tutoring sessions that much easier for a teen. In recent months, Elizabeth helped my daughter prep for the SAT. Her score went up 60 points. Can’t speak highly enough of this tutor!

Elizabeth has been working with my daughter on pre-calculus for much of the year and her help has been invaluable to my daughter. She is very organized and since we didn't start with her from the beginning of the year (I wish we had!), she went back through the course syllabus with my daughter to see which areas from before they started working together needed to be covered again. She uses a whiteboard so that the student is actually working through the problems with her, which is critical for figuring out where there may be weaknesses and addressing them. Elizabeth has been a lifesaver in this fast-paced course and my kid is getting much better grades and, most importantly, truly understands the concepts and feels confident about them! I cannot recommend her highly enough!
