I am a former classroom teacher with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Ohio Northern University and 7 years of experience working in classroom settings. I taught kindergarten for one year and have experience working with children from Pre-K through 3rd grade in a classroom setting.

I specialize in helping young learners build strong academic foundations in a way that is engaging, age appropriate, and tailored to the individual child. Areas I can support include early literacy, phonics, beginning reading, reading comprehension, writing, letter and number recognition, and elementary math.

My teaching experience has taught me that children don’t all learn in the same way or at the same pace. When a student is struggling with a skill, I like to break it into smaller, manageable steps and find a way to make the learning meaningful and engaging. I focus on building understanding and confidence rather than simply getting the right answer.

My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and interactive. With younger students especially, I believe learning should feel approachable and achievable. I use a combination of direct instruction, practice, conversation, and hands on activities depending on the student’s age, needs, and learning style.

Whether a child needs extra practice with foundational skills, support catching up in a particular area, or additional enrichment, I aim to meet them where they are and help them make steady progress.
