My name is Taryn and I am a graduate of Kent State University where I majored in Early Childhood Education. While there I concentrated in preschool through 3rd grade studies. I was able to do a semester of student teaching in a preschool classroom and a semester of student teaching with a combined classroom of first and second graders. During these semesters I completed all of the lesson plans for the children under close guidance of the head teachers to help me have the knowledge I have today about helping children. During my years there I also had the opportunity of planning small group lesson plans for math once a week that I would see how the children did, and change the next weeks plans according to how the children did. My belief with working with children is to see where they are and to go from there. There needs to be a challenge for them so that they can move to the next level, but if the challenge is too great, then frustration will set in causing the child to not want to go any further.
