My name is Michael. I am a certified Primary (PreK-5) general educator. I have a BA in Biology, a Master's Degree in Elementary Education, and am currently pursuing a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus of study in Early-Childhood Education. It is 89% completed, and I have a 4.0 GPA. I have 3.5 years of classroom experience with grades K-6, working with students in the general education and special education classrooms. I have three years of tutoring experience with students in grades K-6 with specific learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disabilities, and ADD/ADHD. I have worked both in a general education classroom with 25-30 students and Intervention groups with 3-5-person small groups.
My teaching philosophy is based on the idea of a growth mindset and making the learning as authentic as possible for the students. Based on my experiences, when I cater my lessons toward student interest, the students are more engaged in their learning. After the lesson, I strive to provide the student time to practice the concepts we went over after the lesson to reinforce the objectives and learning targets.
