My educational background includes an Associate's Degree from The Culinary Institute of America, and a BA in business management from Ursuline College in Cleveland, Ohio. I have been teaching for four years, and I recently renewed my teaching license, which is valid until July of 2031. I am an intervention specialist with certification in The Science of Reading, State of Ohio, and teaching integrated English. I also have 12 personal development credit hours in phonics, content in other areas of reading, social emotional learning for students with trauma, and strategies for struggling readers. In addition, I successfully completed an IPTI course through Ohio State University, and a PDI course through Teacher's of Tomorrow in Texas. I successfully completed all of the exams required by the state of Ohio and completed the resident educator program through the alternative pathway to licensing.
For the last three years I have been assigned to our cross categorical unit which includes students with intellectual, emotional, and behavioral disabilities. I have been teaching 7th and 8th grade students while in this unit and I cover math, English, social studies, science, and study skills during the course of the year.
My approach to teaching is making data driven decisions on instructional strategies that will directly benefit the student and help them achieve his or her academic and behavioral goals.
