Hey! I’m RJ D., a Berklee student with over 10 years of piano experience and 5+ years in electronic production and design, specializing in hip-hop and electronic music.
I began Suzuki piano at 3, transitioned to jazz at 11, and performed in various recitals and bands. At 12, I took a break from piano to teach myself electronic music production, returning at 17 to learn Kapustin’s Prelude Allegro Assai by ear before attending Berklee at 18.
I started producing at 12 with Auxy, moved to FL Studio at 15, and Ableton at 16, where I created a Tyler, the Creator remix that gained 60k+ views. Since then, I’ve mastered advanced sound design, including replicating Skrillex growls by ear. One of my biggest Berklee projects was recreating Skrillex’s The Reason from scratch using only Ableton plugins.
As a producer and sound designer, my strength lies in creativity and sound replication, though my mixing is still evolving. As a pianist, I have an exceptional ear but don’t claim virtuoso status. My focus is on detailed listening, feedback, and helping you improve through honest, structured guidance.
I also have experience composing orchestral and solo piano pieces, with deep knowledge of harmony, arrangement, and tonal theory. My teaching philosophy is simple: growth comes from being comfortable with discomfort. I encourage open communication—tell me if my teaching works for you, because I always strive to improve.
