I'm Lisa! I've been formally teaching Chemistry for 20 years, but began working with students as a tutor as soon as I completed freshman Chemistry ages ago at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. There I completed my BS with a double major in Chemistry and Mathematics. I knew then I enjoyed engaging with students and went to graduate school with the intention of teaching college. While Math came naturally, I was more interested in Chemistry. I began my graduate journey at the University of Michigan where I earned my MS in Chemistry. I finished my PhD at Iowa State University in Analytical Chemistry. As mentioned initially, I began tutoring at UWSP and that continued throughout my graduate career. Upon graduation, I began teaching at a small liberal arts college. I prefer the smaller teaching settings so I can better get to know my students. By getting to know them, I can better help them succeed! I use a variety of strategies that all depend on what my learner needs and how they think. I have a wealth of materials I can pull from to create example problems to work through. I can help you develop study guides to use on your own. I'll work with you to help you learn!

I've taught a variety of classes at the college level: General Chemistry, Introductory Analytical Chemistry (sometimes called Quantitative Analysis), Instrumental Analysis, and Environmental Chemistry. That last one sticks out as a bit different! I enjoy using my training as a Chemist to explore our natural world. I'm happy to work with you on any of these areas.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Lisa helped me with my environmental and instrumental classes. She is incredibly knowledgeable. She is always encouraging me to do my best. Lisa is available on short-notice whenever I need help. I got good grades in both of my classes because of her.

LISA IS THE BEST

If you're nervous to start the process of finding an effective tutor for you.....don't. You already found her. Throughout our many lessons Lisa was able to really effectively explain chemistry in a way my brain could actually understand. She also isn't kidding when she says that she comes with a wealth of supplemental materials. 10000/10 would recommend Lisa.

Extremely Knowledgable

Lisa taught me about water chemistry with acid/base dissociation. She was very good at adjusting to the strategies taught by my professor and came very well prepared.
