After obtaining my high school diploma, I decided to pursue a career in the education field. I currently have my Associate of Arts degree, and I am working toward my Bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education. I have taken many courses on child development, foundations of teaching, specialized instruction, etc.
Before I ever taught school, I used to teach swimming lessons. I worked with children from 4 months old to 12 years old. I loved that job, and followed a tight curriculum to help my students achieve their goals. I also have spent 4 years in the classroom observing, teaching, interacting with students, learning from teachers, and developing my skills as a teacher. I believe that students should learn the way that works best for them! Whether you are an auditory, visual, or hands on learner, I can create lesson plans to appeal to you. I like to have a routine, where students will typically follow the same schedule. However, the activities done may be different to keep students engaged and excited to learn. I also believe in teaching with compassion and kindness.
I have worked with children as young as preschool and as old as high school. As previously mentioned, I was a swim instructor at point in time. I also have been working in classrooms since I was 17 years old! I have went back and taught lessons or lead learning games for my previous teachers. I have experience creating formal and informal lesson plans. Additionally, I have been working beside students for the past four years while student teaching in college. I am comfortable teaching a big crowd or one on one. As a teacher it’s my job to be flexible to help you learn and grow as a student!
