My name is Jonathan Reisman, and I am passionate about helping students build confidence and achieve academic success. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics and am also a certified teacher for grades K–5. Over the years, I have worked with students of all ages in a variety of environments and I would love to use this experience to help your child succeed.
I have tutored subjects such as advanced math, English, writing, and ACT/SAT preparation, among many others. I received a 2140 on the SATS, getting a perfect 800 on the Math Section. I then went to CWRU where I received two Bachelors Degree in Math and Economics with 3.0 GPA. Later I would go to Baldwin Wallace University to get my teaching license where I maintained a 4.0 GPA.
During this time I started tutoring family and friends with the ACTs and SATs. I then started work at Sylvan Tutoring for approximately a year and a half. While there I worked with kids from kindergarten to college. I helped students with a wide range of subjects such as SAT/ACT Prep, math, science, English, writing, and study skills. While at Sylvan I would frequently work with groups of 1-4 students, managing my time to make sure each received the proper attention they needed.
In addition to tutoring, I have been teaching fifth grade at Crouse CLC for the past year, where I have developed strong skills in differentiating instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. While there I worked with students as a class, in small groups of 3-4 and one on one.
When tutoring it is important that students become independent and confident learners. I believe the best tutoring comes from guiding students toward their own understanding. By providing encouragement, structure, and individualized support, I strive to help every student develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed. In addition, I use the skills, tips, tricks, and shortcuts I have learned over the years to help my students succeed and understand the material they are learning.
