Hi! I'm Jaewoo, a full-time professional trombonist with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. I have years of experience private teaching brass players and theory students of many ages, and I hope to help you or your child improve their playing and broaden their musical horizons! Through my experience teaching students from elementary school through adults, I've learned how to communicate concepts to others, how to teach effectively, and how to help others fully understand their music. Hi! I'm Jaewoo, a full-time professional trombonist with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. I have years of experience private teaching brass players and theory students of many ages, and I hope to help you or your child improve their playing and broaden their musical horizons! Through my experience teaching students from elementary school through adults, I've learned how to communicate concepts to others, how to teach effectively, and how to help others fully understand their music. I hope to teach you and apply these skills so that you can reach your full potential as musicians as well as human beings.

As well as the Toledo Symphony, I've also won positions in the Kalamazoo, South Bend, and Adrian symphonies, and I've performed with numerous Midwest orchestras in my career. My education began at Baylor University, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Trombone Performance, and then continued at Indiana University, where I received my Master's degree.

I've tutored music theory students in elementary, middle school, and high school; one of the most common requests I receive is for AP Music Theory tutoring, and I have extensive experience preparing students for the multiple choice, free response, and sight singing portions of the exam. I also received a 5 on it myself! Furthermore, I've also tutored music majors and non majors at both the undergraduate and graduate levels with their assignments in music theory, aural skills, sight singing, and music history.

For over five years, I've tutored middle school, high school, and college ear training students online, including helping them with homework and preparing them for tests and the AP Music Theory exam.

I am a proficient trombonist, and I will be majoring in trombone performance in college. I also studied piano for over 8 years, and I am very capable in music theory. I was selected as one of my school's drum majors, and I have won my school's concerto competition twice and have been a participant of county, state, and national honor bands. Through mentoring middle schools, privately teaching a trombonist, coaching at music camps, and attending a leadership camp in Indianapolis, I have gained the communication skills necessary to show and explain musical concepts to students.

I was totally lost in my college music theory course and Jaewoo was able to break everything down step by step until I understood what to do.
