Hello all, my name is Carmen. I am a Lourdes University graduate. I attained my B.A. in Sociology. I am fluent in Spanish that is spoken in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. I was born and raised in the United States. I learned Spanish while growing up (my parents are both natives to the Spanish-speaking islands). I can also read and write in Spanish. I currently tutor a child in Spanish. With young children, my tutoring style tends to be more play and conversation involved. Working as a Preschool Teacher has shown me that children engage more when you integrate lessons with play time. I tend to have more conversation style tutoring sessions rather than structured.
I was a sociology student with a concentration in urban development and race, class, and gender. I was mainly an A student in my Sociology courses. I have been a tutor at Lourdes University for the three years. Tutoring in this area I usually collect information on the what the student is studying and what they need help on. I will also collect information on their learning style so I can tailor the tutoring session so it is as effective as possible. I will have websites and apps that they can use after our meeting to continue studying
