Kent State Univ (Bachelor of Arts)
I currently tutor several different courses of high school and college math including Geometry, AP Statistics, Algebra I & II, College Algebra and Pre-Calculus. My students have maintained A or B averages throughout the year. I also tutored Middle Childhood Math and Reading, raising test scores significantly. Some of my other tutoring experiences include working at Kent State tutoring College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus.
Many of my students have asked me why their teachers or professors didn't make it as easy as I make it when I teach them. My focus is always to start where the student understands and work to where they need to go. My methods are always based on what works best for the student I am working with. Cheryl had been an amazing blessing in my life.
I am currently taking college algebra and without her I would have never seen the light at the end of the tunnel. She is very knowledgeable in her subject area and has extreme patience! She is always available to help when I need her! I would recommend her over and over to those in need of a tutor!! She is an A++
Cherly is patient and supportive with my daughter. She also is very accommodating to our schedule. We appreciate the time she takes to send us a review of each lesson.
She is an amazing teacher. She's very nice, always on time and will go above and beyond to make sure you are were you Need and want to be. If you are looking for someone to tutor you, i would hands down consider you get in contact with here ASAP and start your learning experience!! Thank You so much !!!!
She was helping me review for the math portion of the ASVAB. I have been out of high school for a few years and had a lot of trouble with most of the math problems. She was very patient and able to teach me everything I needed to know. Within a few visits I could go through a ASVAB practice test and my scores would always improve. I highly recommend using her, she is a very great teacher.
The tutoring has helped our daughter understand the concepts and lessons of Algebra 2 much better. Cheryl is able to explain and teach a difficult subject in a way that is easily understood. Good job!
Cheryl has done a great job helping our son. She is patient and very encouraging. She has also been flexible while dealing with his hectic sports schedule.
After her third session my daughter was proud to say she was able to help another student who was struggling in algebra understand the lesson. Thanks Cheryl for explaining the information in such a way that my daughter was not only able to retain it but was also able to help someone else understand! Great tutoring!
Cheryl was very kind and helped my son so much. She is patient and very good at what she does. My son received a 100% on a Geometry quiz at school a few days after their first session. She is excellent and we highly recommend her!
Cheryl has helped our son prepare for the ACT test, and he is feeling more confident about
the test coming up.
Thank you, Cheryl.
I contacted Cheryl late notice as my son was having an Algebra II test on Wednesday. She arranged her schedule and came the following day. We are very pleased with Cheryl.
I always wait a bit before reviewing someone who interacts with my child. We all have our bad days, personalities don't match, etc.
My daughter was not at all thrilled when I told her I wanted to get her a tutor. Struggling as she was, she somehow felt getting tutored was failing. I pretty much had to force her to first couple of lessons. After she relaxed a but and started talking with Cheryl, her opinion of tutoring changed. She started catching up and then was even with the class teachings. This resulted in her asking to go and being sure to bring home her books for homework. Something she failed to do on a regular basis when she was struggling.
Now she is on the verge of being a little ahead if the class. Although she isn't there yet.
In grade school she loved going to school. Middle school changed that between 6th + 7th grades. Now she is beginning to like it again. Well, at least she isn't hating it and her attitude at home has improved as well.
Cheryl was patient, kind and thorough in assessing where she was at and exactly what to work on in order to turn things around. It didn't happen overnight, but after a couple of months you will notice the difference.
I had several two hour sessions with this tutor, focusing on ACT math prep. My previous score for the ACT math section had been a 29 and after these sessions it was raised to a 34. I would definitely recommend this tutor as she did an excellent job, was very reliable and patient, and helped me raise my score by 5 whole points.
Cheryl is very knowledgeable and teaches at the student pace. My daughter's grade went up and so did her confidence in knowing she understood the material.
I had three lessons with Cheryl H. She seems to be very thorough. I enjoyed working with her and would recommend her to other people who need to brush up on their algebra. She's very good with numbers of all sorts.
She is helpful, nice and excellent in explaining problems. She makes difficult problems easier to understand and solve. She is always on time and flexible with scheduling.
Cheryl is an answer to prayer! She has been most flexible with us. I appreciate that she is proactive and contacted my daughter's teacher to get his schedule of quizzes and tests. She familiarizes herself with the material before she meets with my daughter. The sessions are very productive and I have seen a huge positive difference in my daughter's attitude toward her geometry course. She is much more confident now. I just wished I hadn't waited so long to contact Wyzant!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored many students in ACT Math. There is a lot of content to know, so an early start is always preferable. Most of my students were able to raise their scores. Those struggling with elementary math areas were those who had the most difficulty raising their scores. Students who practice on their own in addition to tutoring do the best.
I have tutored many students in Algebra I and II. It is probably my favorite subject to tutor.
I have a bachelor's degree in middle childhood education, which covers grades 4-8. I worked at Kumon Learning Center for five years, where I learned different ways of teaching math. I use these ways in addition to the methods used in school to help children make sense out of math. I have also worked in Canton with elementary children in both math and reading. Their grades improved and enjoyed our sessions together.
I have tutored PreCalculus in several districts for over ten years. My students show great improvement.
I have gathered numerous resources to make a study skills class I taught at a large private learning center. I have also created a Power Point show on study skills that I used with my students. I taught the class two times for a duration of four weeks meeting two times a week for an hour.
