Amazing Guidance for the Medical School Application Cycle
I started working with Rachel Grubbs last year at the beginning of the medical school admissions cycle, initially seeking help with my personal statement. Looking back, working with Rachel was one of the best decisions I made throughout the entire application process. Rachel is such an exceptional writing tutor because she never tells you what story to tell. Instead, she helps you uncover the story that is already within you. Through thoughtful, eye-opening questions, she guides you toward insights that you may not have realized were there all along. Rachel has an incredible ability to foster brainstorming and reflection in a way that feels very natural. She is also one of the kindest and most personable people I have ever worked with. From our very first meeting, she was incredibly easy to talk to, which made discussing personal experiences and motivations feel comfortable. Her warmth and genuine interest in her students creates a safe space where meaningful reflection can happen. Even when we would spend some time catching up at the beginning of each session, Rachel always made sure I had the full 60 minutes of time allotted to working on my writing. I ended up seeking her help for general admissions advising as well. As a first-generation medical school applicant, this support was absolutely essential to my success. The admissions process can feel overwhelming when you do not have people around you who have navigated it before, but Rachel provided the guidance I needed every step of the way. She helped me identify schools where I would be a strong fit, and by following her advice, I received interview invitations from most of the schools that I applied to. She really helped me understand that I should apply to schools where I would be truly happy. Rachel was also instrumental during the secondary application process. Just as she had done with my personal statement, she asked probing questions that pushed me to think more deeply about my journey to medicine. She really helped me figure out the major essay themes, which allowed me to be efficient even when the essays were piling up. If it were not for this structure, I know I would have been much more overwhelmed during this stage. I was fortunate enough to receive acceptances from 16 medical schools, many of them from T20 programs. I genuinely believe that would not have been possible without Rachel's guidance. She gave me the tools to reflect on my experiences, articulate my story, and present my authentic self throughout the admissions process. I am going to attend my dream school, which is a school that I was at first hesitant to apply to, only because I was doubtful that I could actually get in. Rachel not only extinguished those doubts, but helped me gain the confidence I needed to believe in myself as an applicant. Rachel is an extraordinary writing tutor, mentor, and advisor, and I cannot recommend her enough. I am so grateful for her!

Excellent Application Advisor
Rachel was extremely helpful throughout my medical school application cycle. She gave thoughtful feedback on my essays, helped me brainstorm ideas, and made sure my writing was free of grammar errors. She also helped me prepare for interviews through practice questions and mock interviews, which made me feel much more confident and prepared going into interview day. Her guidance and support helped me present myself in the way I envisioned throughout the application process, and I would highly recommend her to anyone applying to medical school.

Review for Rachel G.
I cannot recommend Rachel enough! Applying to medical school can be incredibly overwhelming and stressful, but Rachel made the entire process feel so much more manageable and personalized. She truly went above and beyond to support me every step of the way by helping me refine my personal statement and application materials, giving honest advice, encouragement, and guidance throughout the cycle. What stood out most to me was how genuinely invested she was in my success. She took the time to understand my story, helped me present myself authentically, and constantly reassured me during moments of doubt. Her feedback was thoughtful, detailed, and incredibly valuable, and I truly believe my application became significantly stronger because of her help. Beyond being knowledgeable and professional, Rachel is also kind, supportive, and easy to talk to. I’m so grateful for everything she has done for me during this journey, and I would highly recommend her to anyone applying to medical school. Having her guidance made such a difference for me, and I honestly could not have asked for a better mentor throughout this process.

Great Tutor for College Placement Exam
My daughter needed to brush up on her Spanish skills for her college placement exam. She hadn't taken Spanish class since her junior year. Rachel met with her several times and got her so well prepared that she passed out of 3 of 4 required semesters of Spanish in college! Rachel was patient, knowledgeable, flexible with appointment times, and my daughter really enjoyed working with her! I would highly recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a great tutor for any of their Spanish needs!

Awesome Tutor
I was thinking of submitting a review for Rachel at the end of my medical school application process, but I was so thankful that I wanted to write one now. Rachel is incredibly knowledgeable and on top of that she has given me so much information. In every session she is so organize and guides me step by steps on the process. Her inputs/comments & advice on my essay is exceptional. I was lucky to have found her. Still counting on more sessions with her until the application cycle is over.

Excellent teacher
Rachel has been absolutely outstanding. We’ve worked with many tutors on Wyzant across a range of subjects, but none compare to Rachel. She is not only exceptionally knowledgeable and patient, but also deeply committed to her students’ success. Rachel worked with our daughter in preparation for the AP Spanish exam, and she went above and beyond, creating a personalized, strategic study plan and consistently following up to ensure steady progress. Thanks to her support, our daughter felt confident and well-prepared. Even though our daughter has now completed her Spanish coursework, we plan to continue working with Rachel. Her dedication and effectiveness have truly set her apart, and it’s because of her that we’ve recommended Wyzant to many of our friends.

An Incredible Mentor and Advocate
I originally met with another tutor from Wyzant, and after just one session, she dismissed me and told me that I would not get into medical school this cycle. I was deeply hurt by that experience, but I wasn’t ready to give up on myself. Then I met Rachel, and the experience was completely different from the start. She was cheerful, supportive, genuine, and incredibly encouraging. More importantly, I could tell she truly cared about my success and believed in my potential. She never sugarcoated things, but instead gave thoughtful and constructive feedback in a way that still made me feel confident and motivated. Working with Rachel completely changed my outlook on myself and my application. She helped me regain confidence in my abilities and my future. Thanks to her guidance and support, I was fortunate enough to choose between several schools. I genuinely believe I would not have achieved this without her help. I would wholeheartedly recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a tutor or mentor. She is not only amazing at what she does, but also an incredibly kind and uplifting person.

Wonderful Spanish tutor for my college student
I wanted to send my appreciation to Rachel for her help with my college freshman. My daughter had a chance to place out of two beginner level Spanish classes and with only two years of high school Spanish notes, I didn’t feel that was sufficient. In just a couple of tutoring lessons, Rachel helped my daughter to remember and understand enough, and more importantly, to instill confidence and my daughter was able to successfully place out of the beginner level classes! A very big thank you to Rachel!

Incredibly knowledgeable and a great med school resource
My son has just started working with Rachel and we could not be happier that we found her. She has a wealth of information and such an amazing resource with regards to the MCAT and medical school applications. Rachel’s guidance has helped my son become more confident and her positive and optimistic nature has helped eased some of his worries as he starts the medical school application journey. She has a lot of experience regarding how to study for the MCAT and she is even more versed on medical schools and the application process. Rachel is also very punctual, dependable, thorough and incredibly organized. She has literally been a God-send for my son and I could not recommend her more. We feel so much more at ease knowing that we have Rachel on our team!
