Hello! My name is Emily, and I am an incoming medical student with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Pre-Med) and a minor in Medical Humanities from Miami University (May 2025). During my undergraduate career, I worked to build both a strong academic foundation and a deep understanding of the sciences, earning Dean’s List recognition from both my college and the College of Arts and Science for most semesters (3.70+ GPA, ranking above 75% of my peers). My coursework included general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, and biochemistry, and I presented a research poster in biochemistry, which strengthened my ability to analyze complex material and communicate scientific ideas clearly. Over the past several years, I have focused on one-on-one tutoring in these subjects as well as MCAT preparation, helping students move beyond simply completing assignments to truly understanding the reasoning behind the material.
My tutoring approach is shaped by both my academic training and my experience navigating the pre-med path. While preparing for the MCAT, I improved my score by 11 points by identifying weaknesses, strengthening content mastery, and refining passage analysis and timing strategies. In our sessions, I break down complex ideas into manageable steps, emphasize understanding over memorization, and help students build their own problem-solving frameworks. For MCAT students, this includes connecting concepts across disciplines, recognizing patterns in question design, and building endurance for full-length exams.
I strive to create a supportive and collaborative learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves. I tailor each session to the student’s goals and learning style, whether they are strengthening foundational science skills, raising their GPA, or working toward a competitive MCAT score. My goal is to improve short-term performance, while equipping students with confidence and critical thinking skills that will continue to serve them.
