During the duration of her time at Oberlin College, Morgan worked alongside professors to provide tutoring for college students in which she solidified grammar concepts, expanded vocabulary and deepened understanding of class material. She cultivated a rich learning environment where curiosity and passion were encouraged and conversation in the target language flowed naturally. Morgan's journey with language teaching began in Vietnam where she taught English to college students in an immersive and rigorous English program. Through these experiences Morgan crafts a teaching philosophy that highlights students' curiosity. Committed to each individual's learning style, Morgan works to build trust between student and teacher. She believes that mistakes are inevitable when first learning a new language, and that it is necessary to use them as tools to continue our refinement of the fluency.
Morgan's own experience with language learning began at the age of 16 while living in Chiloé, Chile. She learned Spanish through total immersion (baptism by fire if you will) which instilled in her a delight in learning and uncovering new words, idioms, turns of phrases and a deep appreciation for culture and history.
While she prepares for grad school in the coming years, Moran hopes to share her love of the Spanish language with her students. Under her tutelage, students have been shown to improve test scores by an average of 30% and their fluency and ability to converse in a wide range of topics has improved extensively, shown in overall letter grades. Through a student centered approach to learning pared with extensive knowledge of culture, literature and history, Morgan is certain that her students will continue to cultivate fluency. Book away!
