I received my bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Penn State University's Schreyer Honors College. I then worked as a research associate in a top biotech company before beginning my doctoral degree at Case Western. I am in my fourth year of studying immunology with focus on hematopoiesis (the development of immune cells). My educational background has given me a diverse set of strengths in STEM, from calculus and physics to biochemistry and cellular biology.
During my later years of undergrad, I was able to formally tutor younger students in several areas such as mathematics, chemistry, and physics. I spent individual time with each student, ensuring they understood the material. I explain things as simply as possible from different angles to ensure my students have the confidence to tackle their homework and exams. Now that I am in my doctorate program my enthusiasm for teaching has only grown. I teach both highschoolers and undergraduate students on a daily basis, covering fundamental biological concepts as well as more technical mechanisms behind each experiment. Beyond individual tutoring, I have been a TA for multiple graduate and undergraduate-level biochemistry classes where I would perform exam reviews, give lectures, and provide individual help.
In my free time I perform in a band as the lead guitarist and also enjoy repairing old musical equipment. I also enjoy hiking, biking, and kayaking through my local metroparks.
Working with undergrads every day constantly reminds me of the seeminly never-ending journey that is learning, but I am here to help!
