Hello, I am Melissa J! I love teaching math and assisting students in strengthening their math skills regardless of their level of math learning. I have tutored (and taught) math topics from the collegiate level to early elementary learning.
I received my BS in Secondary Math Education from Ohio State University (and have a current teaching certification for math grades 7-12). I also received a Master’s Degree in Math Education from Western Governors University. For over 10 years, I have taught and tutored in physical classrooms and online of both high school and middle school aged students in lower economic, public suburban, and private independent school settings. I have also taught math courses and tutored in a local Community College.
When teaching and tutoring math students, I especially enjoy finding out what they DO know and helping them use those skills to build their knowledge and confidence in learning new skills and concepts! I warn students that when they work with me on math that they may leave loving math more (or at least feeling stronger) :)
