Hello, I'm Brett! I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with dual undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology with honors, and a Master's degree in Chemistry. I have 12 years experience as an industrial chemist & formulator, where I have leveraged my education to solve tough and interesting problems. I have found in both students and mentees that learning is much easier and engaging when you can demonstrate the "why" by showing utility and application alongside the subject. My experience as a graduate school TA helping students with classroom and laboratory material, as well as mentoring new hires in my professional role with more nuanced and niche concepts have helped me hone my approach to teaching, and I relish opportunities to help others take abstract concepts off the page and into the world.
My focus and efforts are trained on making the learning experience as pleasant and engaging as possible. In order to accomplish this, I get a handle on the students struggles and complaints first, and then structure the lessons to engage specific needs. I also like to leave time at the end of any session for practice and repetition of lessons learned. I am very invested in the short and long term success and satisfaction of my students, and therefore welcome any resources or suggestions that students or parents can provide. I am easy to reach and will provide quick responses. Feel free to reach out to me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
