I'm a veteran science teacher with 22 years of classroom and online teaching experience, and three degrees from The Ohio State University — a BS in Microbiology, a BS in Molecular Genetics, and a Master's in Math, Science, and Technology Education. That combination of deep scientific training and professional educator preparation is something I bring directly into every tutoring session.
Over my career I've taught Biology, Physical Science, and Business Math primarily at the middle and high school level, working with students ranging from 6th grade through 12th grade. The majority of my 22 years has been in online education, where I developed strong skills in keeping students engaged, focused, and genuinely learning in a virtual environment — not just sitting in front of a screen.
My approach to tutoring centers on meeting students where they are. I focus on building real understanding rather than surface-level memorization, and I adapt my explanations based on how each student learns. I've worked one-on-one and in small group settings, and I'm comfortable pacing sessions around a student's individual needs rather than a fixed curriculum timeline.
Beyond the classroom, I served as a Technology Director at my school, supporting teachers with online instructional tools, and I've led professional development training for educators on classroom technology and video-based learning. I also authored a science curriculum, which reflects the depth of content knowledge I bring to my subject areas.
