Hello! My name is Zack, and I am a full-time firefighter/paramedic with more than 14 years of experience in emergency medical services and healthcare. Throughout my career, I have pursued a wide range of clinical training and experience, including work as an EMT, paramedic, medical assistant, EKG technician, pharmacy technician, critical care and specialty-care transport provider, flight medic, dive medic technician, and tactical EMS provider. My professional experience has included high-volume private EMS systems, hospital-based EMS, emergency department care, event medicine, disaster response, critical care transport, and community paramedicine. I have also been an American Heart Association instructor since 2014 and have taught EMT and paramedic students in a career center and hospital-partnered program for the past seven years.
As a tutor and instructor, my goal is not simply to help students memorize information—I want them to understand why it matters and how to apply it. I enjoy taking difficult concepts in areas such as EMT and paramedic coursework, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, EKG interpretation, cardiology, medical calculations, patient assessment, and emergency medicine and breaking them down into practical, understandable pieces. Because students learn differently, I adjust my teaching style to the individual and use explanations, real-world examples, scenarios, repetition, and step-by-step problem solving as needed.
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching EMS is watching a student move from feeling overwhelmed or unsure to becoming confident in their knowledge and decision-making. Whether you are preparing for an EMT or paramedic exam, struggling with a particular subject, learning EKGs, reviewing medications, practicing clinical reasoning, or simply trying to put all of the pieces together, I will meet you where you are and help you build from there. My approach is supportive, practical, and grounded in years of real-world patient care and classroom instruction.
