Greetings! My name is Chris and I teach 5th & 6th grade math in a top-rated school district. I have been teaching in the classroom for over 13 years and love working with my students. You can see my academic journey below with my Bachelors, Masters, and additional graduate coursework. As a proud father of 5 children, I am confident working with many different ages, personalities, and learning styles - including students who have an IEP, 504 plan, and special needs. As a former military chaplain, I will be both well prepared and compassionate while working with your child and following up with you afterwards. I love working with students in ways that support their learning styles, build their confidence, and put them on a path towards current and future success!

In addition to leading our Math Club, I have worked for the past several years at TutorSmart, where I have served as the Virtual Team Lead, Assistant Director of Student Achievement, and now the Associate Director of Teaching and Learning. We specialize in closing learning gaps and helping students reach grade level through targeted, data-driven tutoring. For students who are behind grade level, this often involves a plan of closing their learning gap by adjusting my teaching style to start with your child's current ability and working towards their grade level. We will also review their current school work to make sure they are learning at a level comparable to their peers to experience success in their current learning environment. When a child is able to experience success individually, gain confidence in themselves and their abilities, this helps them discover a new love for learning and confidence in the classroom. This is one of the most rewarding parts of being a tutor!

I am a Math Teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. I currently teach 5th and 6th grade math, while I have spent many years tutoring a variety of grades and subjects. These experiences have allowed me to adapt my teaching style based on the goals and needs of each parent and student. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education before going on to earn my Masters degree. Most recently, I completed an additional 10 graduate courses this summer from Adams State University to enhance my ability for online teaching and distance learning.

I have been fortunate enough to serve in full-time teaching as well as full-time ministry. Great math tutor for my 6th grader

My son has been working with Chris for several weeks on 6th grade math and has had an excellent experience! Chris is very patient and thorough in his instruction and recaps the lesson at the end to really help it stick. He’s also very personable and respectful with my son, which makes my son look forward to their sessions. As a parent, I appreciate the recaps that Chris sends me after each lesson. Highly recommend!
