I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology from Kenyon College, graduating magna cum laude with honors. Having presented at national and international conferences, I am skilled at tailoring information to audiences with varying levels of scientific knowledge, an approach I bring directly to teaching students of diverse age groups. Through my coursework and APs, where I received As and 5s, I am also comfortable tutoring calculus, data analysis, and English literature. Having secured internships with 4-6% acceptance rates and a $60,000/year scholarship, I bring firsthand expertise in crafting personal essays and statements that effectively demonstrate character and qualifications through narrative.

My teaching experience spans several years. In middle school, I was a private one on one math tutor for students in grades 5-6 for 1.5 years, devising weekly plans that would break up complex subjects into smaller questions. After assessing where students struggle, I created problem sets that target specific weaknesses. I would additionally explain concepts using mnemonics and ask them to explain it again to evaluate their understanding. In high school, I was a volunteer, one on one tutor for students in grades 7-9 in impoverished communities with learning disabilities such as ADD. In college, I provided one on one guidance to first-year students on academics and career development, meeting regularly to track their progress toward semester goals. In addition, I would review drafts for assignments, internships, and other purposes to aid in writing. Across these experiences, my core approach has remained the same: adapting my style to meet each student's unique background, building their confidence, and fostering independent problem-solving skills.
