Hi All
I'm Cindy. I grew up in Ohio and graduated from WMHS. Several years out of high school I had my son which motivated me to go on to college. I did my undergrad in Elementary Education at OU and received my BAS in 2000. I taught 1 year of high school math, was a long-term sub for the following school year, and then was hired as a Para-Professional at my high school alma mater. Wanting to be an Intervention Specialist, I completed the Mild-Moderate coursework at MU and received my Masters in 2009. Shortly thereafter, I had my daughter (Yes… There is a 15 year age difference... NO... I don’t know what I was thinking!!! lol). I was an Intervention Specialist at WMHS for 15 years where I mainly taught math and reading in a small group setting and tutored all high school subject areas. In 2017 I accepted a position as an art teacher at TVHS. I continue to tutor a variety of subjects at varying levels and have been an adjunct professor for MU since 2013.
I currently hold a teaching license in elementary education grades 1- 8; Multi Age (P-12) – Visual Arts; and Intervention Specialist Mild-Moderate. I have held a variety of teaching positions, have 25+ years of experience working with diverse groups of students with various needs, and, my son being diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, I can relate to and provide support for the parent side of things as well. I understand, the struggle is real. To help ease any stress and/or anxiety, I strive to create a lighthearted atmosphere while making learning fun with interactive and individualized instruction. I am passionate about meeting my students' needs while strengthening their skills by exploring and finding strategies that work for them. With focusing on PROGRESSION... not perfection and by using positive reinforcement, students quickly start to see success and their confidence builds.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or to set up a meeting. We are a team and I am here to provide support to parents and students alike.
