Bio

Kerry K. attended Wright State University for two (2) years, and then transferred to Belmont University to receive a Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance. Mr. K. finished a Master’s degree in Jazz, online program at University of Arkansas, studying jazz drums , theory and Jazz Improv. He also holds a Masters of Music from Eastern Kentucky University. Kerry K. attended Wright State University for two (2) years, and then transferred to Belmont University to receive a Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance. Mr. K. finished a Master’s degree in Jazz, online program at University of Arkansas, studying jazz drums , theory and Jazz Improv. He also holds a Masters of Music from Eastern Kentucky University. He also studied at the Eastman School of Music to learn Creative Music Making, Gamelan performance, and African drum studies. Lastly, he attended the University of Dayton for Percussion, Music Technology, & World music, and the Samba school in Salvador/Rio, Brazil for Samba studies.

Kerry has been performing since 1984 for theatre shows, bands for rock, jazz, R & B, Circus (Great Wallendas), swing bands, American Entertainment Productions show band (one year), and performed with Holland America Cruise Line for three (3) years (2008-2011). Recently, he is performing Musicals at Dare2Defy productions (Guys & Dolls) & Sinclair Community College, jazz bands, Church music in the area, and playing in jazz/Pop-Rock group artists from Cincinnati.

Kerry has been private teaching since 2004, both privately and local studios, offering all styles.

In July 2021, Kerry Started teaching at Guitar Center in Cincinnati, OH.

He has been learning Music writing and licensing also, having one played on HBO and another Film Co. (Ageless Entertainment) used a percussion piece in their short film.

Knowing how to relate to many different students, either young or adults, makes learning fun and enjoyable. People learn more when it is enjoyable to them. Knowing music theory, Drums, Music production (i.e., from Music notation to DAWs {Logic}, will help students to learn many different concepts of the music industry.
