Howdy! I'm Cody, and I've been programming since high school. I first got interested in software by programming motor controllers for robotics projects and building my own websites. That passion eventually led me to earn a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Montana State University, where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Throughout college, I loved helping other students understand programming concepts and work through challenging projects. Today, I work full-time as a software engineer, where I build software professionally while continuing to create personal projects in my free time.
I have experience in both frontend and backend development, and I've built and deployed complete web apps from scratch. I'm comfortable working with things like Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, SQL, Git, Linux, data structures, algorithms, and other computer science concepts.
My goal as a tutor is to help students become confident, independent problem solvers rather than simply giving them answers. I like to break difficult concepts into smaller, manageable pieces and adapt my explanations to each student's learning style. I encourage questions, focus on building strong fundamentals, and guide students through the reasoning process so they can apply what they've learned to future problems. Programming can feel overwhelming at times, but one of my college professors always said, "None of this is magic—it's all just code. If I can figure this out, so can you!" That mindset has stayed with me, and I believe that with patience, practice, and the right guidance, anyone can learn to program successfully.
Whether you need help debugging an assignment, understanding object-oriented programming, mastering data structures and algorithms, learning web development, or preparing for a computer science course, I'd be happy to help. I look forward to working with you!
