I have been a classroom teacher for almost a decade and before that I taught environmental education for about 20 years. I can tutor in Biology, AP biology, Environmental Science, chemistry, physical science, and test prep.

As a licensed teacher for grades 7-12 Integrated Science I have taught Honors level biology, physics, physical science, and chemistry. I currently teach general level physcial science, Honor Biology and AP Biology. I continually read newly released published science literature and keep up on the latest technology advances to assist students in learning content areas.

Besides teaching I seem to collect hobbies. I have alot of plants both at home and at school and I have extensive outdoor gardens. I am also a professional artist. I generally create things with wool from dryer balls, to hats, to landscapes, and of course plants you can't kill.

Along with the plants and many hobbies I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, riding electric scooters, backpacking, and travel in general.

Despite all the travelling I do have a small zoo of animals. In the classroom students work with me to care for leopard gecko, crested gecko, axolotls, jumping spiders and button quail. At home I have 2 dogs (a third one is a guest while his family is in Japan) and of course more quail.

Biology

Biology

8+ years honors biology teacher, with 70% and higher passage rate on state tests 4+ years AP biology teacher
Botany

Botany

Within both AP Biology and Honors biology there are multiple sections relating to the study of the processes of plants. This encompasses both their structures, biochemical processes, classification and interactions with the environment. At school I lead a group of students caring for house plants in school. They ensure the care of the plants and address any diseases the plants may incur while at school.
Drawing

Drawing

On my "downtime" from teaching science I am a professional fiber artist. I have work in a local art gallery and have been a part of many juried art shows and festivals over the past 20 years. I started as a watercolorist, dabble in 3d print and modeling, work as a semi-professional photographer, and just love learning and working with many forms of media.
Ecology

Ecology

Background in teaching environmental science as an outdoor educator. My bachelors in biology was focused on ecology.
Genetics

Genetics

I have taught AP Biology (4+) and Honors Biology (8+) years now. Each of these courses forcuses on different areas of genetics which include but are not limited to Mendelian, Chromsomal, and Molecular biology. My students enjoy this unit of class because I break down the subject into manageable pieces with extensive practice pieces to help them through it.
Needlework

Needlework

I have taught myself how to spin wool into yarn, which then what does one do with all this yarn you make? Teach your self to knit and weave. I have had several professional creators help me refine my skills and learn new ones in the art. I believe everyone can learn it and it is a wonderful way to express yourself. I am currently learning needlework.
Painting

Painting

I started learning watercolors at 9 from a local professional. Since that age I have worked with many types of media (except oils), have had many pieces in shows and have sold my pieces as well. I can help you learn the basics, how to start ideas flowing, and help your work become better working with your style.
Physical Science

Physical Science

Teaching Physical Science to 8th -11th graders for 6 years Taught Chemistry 11-12th grade for 2 years Taught Physics 11-12th grade for 2 years
Soccer

Soccer

A retired soccer player, I love the sport. I spent most of my early years as a sweep and left defense. As I started playing as an "adult" I played forward/offense much more. I can read the game, teach basics, and help you understand the ever present "offsides" rulings.

Best tutor for biology

I had two lessons with her before my Biology EOC test. She knows a lot about biology, and she really helped me understand it. That's why I was able to pass the test. She's also very patient and cares if I'm understanding things. I would definitely take more lessons with her in the future!
