Hi! I'm Ella! I recently graduated college with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences. Throughout college, I found that one of my favorite parts of learning science was being able to help other students understand concepts that initially seemed difficult or overwhelming. I especially enjoy finding different ways to explain a concept until it finally clicks for the student.
During college, I served as a Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) Leader for Biology: Molecules and Cells. In this role, I worked with groups of students to review course material, answer questions, and work through challenging concepts and problems. This experience taught me that every student learns a little differently, so I try not to rely on just one way of explaining something. Sometimes a diagram helps, sometimes a real-world example, and sometimes simply breaking a complicated concept into smaller pieces makes all the difference.
My goal as a tutor is to create a comfortable environment where students feel okay asking questions and making mistakes. I don't want students to feel like they should already know everything before coming to tutoring. I want to work alongside them to figure out where they're struggling and help them build both their understanding and confidence.
I am especially interested in tutoring biology and other life science subjects, including biology, cell biology, anatomy, physiology, and chemistry. I would be happy to work with students who need help understanding course material, preparing for exams, completing practice problems, or simply want some extra support throughout the semester.
I am patient, approachable, and genuinely enjoy helping students succeed. I look forward to getting to know each student I work with and adapting our sessions to what works best for them!
