Hello! My name is Vi, and I tutor in subjects K-12. My areas of specialty include Maths, Sciences, and Spanish. My experience comes from working in Kumon centres as well as helping my peers in high school and college. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience from The Ohio State University. Hello! My name is Vi, and I tutor in subjects K-12. My areas of specialty include Maths, Sciences, and Spanish. My experience comes from working in Kumon centres as well as helping my peers in high school and college. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience from The Ohio State University. Tutoring has always been a way for me to unwind from a stressful day, because, for me, there is nothing more rewarding than helping students reach their potential.

Mathematics has always been my passion, and if I had more time, I would be majoring in mathematics as well. I am well versed in teaching mathematics, but I specialise in teaching the skills required for the levels present in the ACT Maths section. In high school, I had received a 36 in the ACT Math section after forgetting my calculator in the car, so I am a strong advocate for mental maths and strengthening basic calculation skills. Helping students in maths over the course of these past seven years has improved my skills in catering to the specific abilities and goals of each student.

As an avid reader, I have grown to love English for its efficiency and felt drawn to explore linguistics as well. I have studied phonetic theory and basic linguistics in college, and have worked with many international students in Kumon who started with little to no understanding of English. Each person's approach to English can vary based off of their first language. It's important to me that the student feels comfortable trying to speak and write in English since exposure is often the first step in truly experiencing a language.

I've helped many neurodivergent students, and have graduated with a degree that specialised in Systems and Behavioural Neuroscience. I've taken extensive coursework spanning several years on neurodivergency and focused on ADHD, autism, and chronic PTSD in a few seminars as well as in my own research. I have close friends and family who have been diagnosed as well, so I've learned the best ways to communicate with neurodivergent children.

Learning is something that should be accessible to everyone, regardless of how their brain perceives the information. I am confident in picking up cues and adapting my tutoring style for each student, regardless of gender, ability, language, etc.
