I am an experienced educator with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Education, with a background in both classroom teaching and youth development. I have taught students in grades 5–8 in science as well as 9th-grade Biology, and I also have experience supporting students in reading and literacy. My work with young people has given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of learning styles, academic abilities, and developmental needs, and I truly enjoy helping students build both their skills and their confidence.
My teaching approach is student-centered, supportive, and individualized. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and connecting new concepts to things they already understand. I take time to identify a student’s strengths and areas for growth, then adjust my instruction accordingly. Whether I am helping a student understand a challenging science concept, strengthen reading comprehension, develop writing skills, or prepare for an assessment, I focus on breaking information into manageable steps and using clear explanations, examples, guided practice, and meaningful feedback.
In addition to my classroom experience, I currently work as a Program Specialist in youth leadership and workforce development, where I develop educational programming, training materials, and learning experiences for students ages 14–21. My experience transitioning from the classroom into program development has strengthened my ability to create engaging learning experiences, communicate effectively with students and families, and support students with different needs. I bring patience, encouragement, and a genuine passion for education to every student I work with, and my goal is always to help students become more confident, capable, and independent learners.
