I have a degree in Actuarial Science and have passed six actuarial exams, which has given me a strong background in mathematics, statistics, probability, and quantitative problem-solving. I tutor a range of subjects, including Algebra 1 and 2, calculus, linear algebra, statistics, probability, and actuarial science. My academic and professional experience has required me to work extensively with mathematical concepts and apply them to challenging problems, and I enjoy helping students develop a deeper understanding of the material rather than simply memorizing formulas or procedures.

During college, I spent a year tutoring student-athletes in a one-on-one setting. I worked with students with different levels of preparation and learning styles, and I learned to adapt my approach to each student's individual needs. When a student was struggling, I would identify the specific concept causing difficulty, break the problem into smaller steps, and guide the student through the reasoning rather than simply providing the answer. I believe students learn best when they understand why a method works and have the opportunity to practice it themselves. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while building the confidence and problem-solving skills they need to succeed independently.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have a degree in Actuarial Math and a strong mathematical background covering algebra, functions, equations, inequalities, and quantitative problem-solving. I spent a year tutoring student-athletes in college in a one-on-one setting, working with students with different levels of preparation and learning styles. I focus on breaking problems into manageable steps and helping students understand the reasoning behind each solution. My goal is to build a strong mathematical foundation while helping students become more confident and independent problem-solvers.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a degree in Actuarial Math, where advanced mathematics built on a strong foundation in algebra, functions, equations, and quantitative reasoning. I also have a year of experience tutoring college students one-on-one, where I learned to adapt my explanations to each student's individual needs. I can help students work through topics such as quadratic equations, polynomials, functions, systems of equations, and other Algebra 2 concepts. I emphasize understanding the underlying concepts and developing problem-solving strategies rather than relying on memorization.
Calculus

Calculus

I have a degree in Actuarial Math and have passed six actuarial exams, giving me a strong foundation in calculus and its applications. My academic and professional training has required extensive use of differential and integral calculus, as well as applying calculus concepts to probability, statistics, and financial mathematics. I also spent a year tutoring student-athletes in college in a one-on-one setting, where I learned to adapt my explanations to different learning styles and levels of preparation. I focus on breaking complex calculus problems into manageable steps while helping students understand the concepts and reasoning behind each solution.
Probability

Probability

I have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and have passed six actuarial exams, several of which required a strong understanding of probability and statistics. I have applied probability concepts both academically and professionally while working at an actuarial consulting company, where quantitative analysis and uncertainty were important parts of my work. I can help students understand probability concepts such as conditional probability, independence, random variables, distributions, expected value, and probability calculations by breaking problems down into manageable steps. My goal is to help students understand why probability methods work so they can confidently apply them to unfamiliar problems.
Statistics

Statistics

I have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and have passed six actuarial exams, developing a strong foundation in statistics, probability, and quantitative analysis. I have also worked at an actuarial consulting company, where I applied statistical and analytical methods to real-world problems and worked with quantitative data in a professional setting. I can help students understand statistical concepts such as descriptive statistics, probability distributions, sampling, hypothesis testing, regression, and statistical inference by breaking problems down into clear, manageable steps. My goal is to help students understand both how to perform statistical calculations and how to interpret what the results mean.
