Hi, my name is Natalie and I am currently a student at The Ohio State University in Medieval and Renaissance Studies and Italian Studies. I am passionate about helping students learn in a way that is right for them, rather than relying on standardized methods that often ignore the individual needs of students. Due to this approach, I will work with every student to understand the personal goals they have for their growth and create a lesson plan that is tailor-made to suit them. My goal for each student is short-term and long-term success. This means that I want to prepare students for meeting expectations in the classroom, but also to help them feel confident in continuing to develop skills long after they graduate.
I am fluent in French and have 2 years of experience tutoring students in the language. I also tutored students to help prepare them for the English portions of the ACT and SAT while I was in high school. In both of these experiences, I spoke with the student to understand what they didn't understand and to figure out why they were struggling. I then provided a patient approach where I explained the content in a way that was suited to their mode of learning, rather than being one-size-fits-all.
Now that I am at an advanced level of Italian, and tested in the 99th percentile in English for both the ACT and SAT, I would love to work with students to give them both confidence in school and a true understanding of the material. I will also listen to the thoughts and concerns of parents, and provide them with all materials I use for my lessons.
