Hi, I'm Emma! I struggled in my undergraduate program journey at first. It wasn't until I received tutoring from an amazing writing professor that I began to succeed. I was able to complete not only my undergraduate psychology degree, but a double major with English as well. This became the starting point that led to graduate school, and my entire teaching career. Tutoring is a powerful tool for learning & meeting people where they are at is essential.

These are core elements of my teaching ethos. That we make work accessible & engaging so students can succeed. I aim to bring that knowledge to my tutoring experience. Engaging with topics in fun creative ways, and teaching material in a clear fashion. One of the key elements is adjusting to the individual student’s needs as we work through lessons.

I have six years of experience as a composition professor. I’ve worked directly with students across a variety of classes, according to their needs. I have also tutored directly with students, helping them develop essays & revise theses for more effective writing. I have had experience guiding students with essay forms such as literary analysis, rhetorical analysis, literacy narratives & op-ed formats.

Together I have helped students with learning essential components of writing such as locating and evaluating sources, analyzing data, and presenting findings in writing. I want the students I work with to benefit from my experience. First and foremost, this is the student’s learning experience so I’m open to any resources students may provide. I am easy to reach and will prioritize fast responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
