Hello! My name is Zach, I’m a graduate student in Physics with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, emphasis in Astronomy, as well as an Associates degree in Nursing (it’s a long story!). I’ve always had a passion for learning and helping others, and my career interests reflect that with experiences in IT Help Desks, Nursing, and Tutoring. I understand the struggles of succeeding in academics, especially the more rigorous subjects, and am committed to helping students learn in ways that make sense to them.
Early in my college career I realized education and tutoring were ideal fields for me. I spent several years working with a Physics Teacher Prep program, mastering my understanding of introductory physics concepts, as well as the common roadblocks all students experience, by working in college Physics classrooms. Additionally, I pursued special coursework in Writing Tutoring where I developed tutoring skills applicable to any subject and gained further experience in my university’s Writing Center. As a graduate student, I am a Teaching Assistant, helping in introductory physics classrooms as well as my university’s Physics Help Center where I provide walk-in one-on-one and group tutoring.
While I have goals to eventually teach introductory college physics, tutoring is the most rewarding experience. I enjoy finding new and different ways to present content and convincing students learning the material is not a hopeless task. A classroom can never cater to every student’s educational needs, but I believe a tutoring session should. While introductory Physics is my specialty, feel free to reach out about adjacent subjects as well as writing and nursing.
