Hey Everyone! I am Ms. S; a teacher and tutor who also had to reach out of tutoring myself to help me successfully understand a few courses that had me stumped, so I get it. Hey Everyone! I am Ms. S; a teacher and tutor who also had to reach out of tutoring myself to help me successfully understand a few courses that had me stumped, so I get it. I currently hold a BS in Chemistry PreMed, a MS in Kinesiology specializing in Exercise Physiology, and a Chemistry-only teaching license that I have utilized solely in-person and solely online for over 8 years. My areas of specialty are Chemistry, Physical Science, and Algebra; I have also taught and covered courses in Physics and can help in Study Skills as well. In the past, I have taught and tutored at both the high school and college levels. My greatest joy is being able to break things down into and relating science concepts to practical, everyday experiences no matter how big the words are lol.

Online and in-person, I have been effective in the classroom, one-on-one, and small group teaching and tutoring settings. Learning more about you or your student, your goals, interests, and how you learn best (because one size never fits all) definitely helps us understand the material better. I, along with your parents or other supports you may, have look forward to joining your cheerleading team. You can do this!

Seasoned chemistry teacher who, when applying for colleges as a high school student, always tended to score higher on the SAT and ACT Science and math side of things rather than reading. I also had 8 full rides and chose an out of state one to go to undergrad.

Algebra 1

Math is how we speak in Chemistry but more than that, it is specifically a very algebra-based field. Without learning the language, some of my students struggled. That's where I came in to help. I was able to help students with special needs, IEPs, 504s, and even those with math-specific anxiety to learn how do math without having panic attacks and flourish. Many of my former students also were able to improve their math class-specific grades while also improving their grades in my class (Physical Science or Chemistry).

Elementary Math

Math is not everyone's favorite (I get it), but it is needing in so many areas and a solid foundation is critical. When you get the basics down, then it becomes a space and place of comfort as you tackle additional math concepts that come in the higher grades. As your tutor, I do love math and hope you love it too at some point with the understanding that you may not. I am willing to walk with you step by step to make sure you understand it for what your needs are, no matter if you are returning to school after a long break or find your kiddo is having trouble with something that was taught in school. I am here for you.

Prealgebra

Prealgebra is like the prequel to the sequel (Algebra). I can tell you with confidence that if you do well in this class, you will beast Algebra I. I took this class myself in high school and found it to be true. Even if math is not your thing or just a class you want to "get through", I want to help you understand it. "But Ms.S, I have an IEP"; no problem. I have worked with a few Intervention Specialists over the years who were specialized in math when they hit road blocks while helping students. I want to and am glad to do the same for you/your student.

I have taught each of my students how to best study for each of their subjects over the past 8 years before we get started in the Chemistry content. I have also been tutored myself as an undergraduate and researched how to best study and learn on my own while in graduate school.
