I have 3 years and over 300 hours of tutoring experience tutoring both high school and college students at my undergraduate university learning center as well as a private test-prep center, C2education. I have experience in one-on-one tutoring as well as small group lessons. I am a firm believer in tailoring my lessons and approach to the unique needs of each individual student and incorporating feedback of how to best teach each student.
My approach to helping students with test-prep includes:
Personalized Schedule
I will work with each student to create a study schedule tailored to their particular needs. I believe having a clear and defined study schedule was the single most important factor that helped me ace my SAT and MCAT exams. The schedule will include practice tests, question sets, and lessons as needed.
Progress Tracking
After doing numerous practice questions, a great motivating feeling to track your progress and see the improvements that you have made. I will show students how I create an excel sheet to log their question sets and track their progress. This also helps identify areas of weakness that can be targeted for further improvement.
Exam-taking strategies
I will share my approaches to exam questions to improve reading comprehension and accuracy that come from knowing the MCAT inside and out. I also help prepare students with guidance on exam pacing and mindset that becomes ever more important as you approach exam day.
In addition to preparation for the MCAT and other standardized tests, I am also available for tutoring for numerous STEM topics at the college level.
