I've spent four years as a substitute teacher in the Cleveland Municipal School District, working with students from middle school through high school, and I currently tutor Algebra and Precalculus.

I've spent four years as a substitute teacher in the Cleveland Municipal School District, working with students from middle school through high school, and I currently tutor Algebra and Precalculus.

My goal is to make mathematics make sense, not just memorized. I listen closely to how a student is thinking about a problem so I can find exactly where the gap is, then tailor my instruction to close it — an approach I sharpened across four years of reaching students of very different ages and skill levels. I welcome feedback throughout a lesson, since knowing what isn't clicking yet is the fastest way to fix it.

I offer the first half hour free so we can identify your goals and set up a plan together — feel free to reach out anytime to schedule.

My background is actually in art history (BA, Kent State, focused on Architecture) — I've found that an eye trained on visual structure translates surprisingly well to explaining mathematical relationships clearly.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have a mathematics background combined with four years of K-12 teaching experience and over five years tutoring statistics and calculus online. In my professional work as a data analyst, I use algebra-level math daily to build models and solve real-world problems, which helps me connect abstract concepts to concrete examples students can relate to. I'm comfortable meeting students at any starting point, whether they need to fill in gaps from earlier grades or want to move ahead faster than their current pace. My approach emphasizes understanding the "why" behind each method, not just memorizing steps, so skills stick and transfer to new problems.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a mathematics background combined with four years of K-12 teaching experience and several years tutoring statistics and calculus online. My career has also included years of data-analytics work that relied heavily on algebra-level math — functions, systems of equations, and modeling relationships between variables — which helps me connect abstract Algebra 2 concepts to real, concrete examples. I'm comfortable working with students across the full range of Algebra 2 topics, from functions and transformations to systems, logarithms, and polynomials, and I can meet a student wherever they're starting from. My approach focuses on building real understanding of why each method works, not just memorizing steps, so the skills carry forward into precalculus and beyond.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have a mathematics background combined with four years of K-12 teaching experience, giving me a strong foundation for working with younger students. I focus on building core number sense — multiplication and division fluency, fractions, decimals, and percentages — using mental-math strategies alongside written methods, so students understand the "why" behind each step rather than just memorizing procedures. I'm especially comfortable helping with word problems, breaking them down into clear steps so the math feels less intimidating. Whether a student needs to catch up to grade level or wants to stay ahead of an accelerated curriculum, I meet them where they are and help them keep building confidence in math.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have a mathematics background combined with four years of K-12 teaching experience, along with experience tutoring students transitioning from arithmetic into algebraic thinking. I focus on the core Pre-Algebra building blocks — fractions, ratios, ordering operations, negative numbers, and an introduction to variables and simple equations — making sure students have solid footing before moving into full Algebra. I'm comfortable meeting students wherever they're starting from, whether they need extra support to keep up or want to build confidence before an accelerated Algebra 1 course. My approach emphasizes understanding why each method works, not just memorizing steps, so the foundation is strong enough to build on.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have a mathematics background combined with four years of K-12 teaching experience and a strong foundation in algebra that carries directly into trigonometry. I focus on building real intuition for the unit circle, trig identities, and graphing sine/cosine/tangent functions, rather than having students memorize formulas without understanding where they come from. I'm comfortable connecting trig concepts back to the algebra students already know, which helps demystify a subject that can otherwise feel disconnected from everything before it. My approach emphasizes understanding why each identity or relationship works, so students can apply it confidently on tests rather than just recalling a memorized rule.
