Hello, my name is Vivien. With a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master of Education degree, I have extensive experience teaching, most recently in the sciences, having held assignments in elementary, middle, and high school. I adopt a firm, but loving approach to my students and I model lifelong learning. I use a variety of strategies to teach and to tutor, encouraging my pupils to use higher-order thinking, not just to memorize. Having said that, I can also state that they retain concepts well. My former students have said that my classes were challenging, which was refreshing, and they appreciated how I used illustrations to help get the concepts across.
Communication is important, so I would want you to tell me what you believe you have grasped and where you are getting stuck. I will explain concepts and then ask questions to gauge your comprehension, and help you practice the skill. My questions include those requiring quick recall and those requiring more developed responses.
I enjoy reading different genres of books, gardening, and folk dancing. I am enthusiastic about helping you/your son/daughter succeed.
Wishing you success,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a lifelong student of the Bible; in addition to learning it at parochial schools, including a post-secondary institution, I continue to learn it by immersing in it on my own, or by attending lectures. I have a diploma from Bais Yaakov teaching seminary in Montreal. Please note: My studies in this field are focused on the Old Testament, only.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology and taught the subject for fourteen years.
I grew up in Quebec City and used French regularly in stores, on the bus, with neighbors, and so on. I conversed with French-speaking friends and classmates and did it quite well.
I speak conversational Hebrew and can read a book in this language. I have been to Israel numerous times and conducted transactions such as traveling, purchasing goods at markets and stores, asking for directions, banking, and social conversations.
I am an experienced teacher and I have taught both elementary and high school, including teaching Hebrew language. I can teach modern as well as Biblical Hebrew--you choose!
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's in Education; I have taught for many years and have experience from pre-school through senior high school.
I have a Master's degree in Education with extensive experience teaching. As part of my graduate program, I took courses in reading in the content areas, and I have applied the principles that I learned to the classes that I teach. I direct my pupils to write grammatically, in complete sentences, with attention to applying their own comprehension of a topic, rather than quoting verbatim from a text. Included in my lessons are vocabulary exercises, comprehension exercises, reading aloud, and paraphrasing.
