Hello! My name is Shannon and I have recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cleveland State University with a B.A. in Anthropology and minors in Non Profit Administration and Native American Studies. I am interested in continuing my education to pursue a graduate degree in Anthropology or History with a focus on Museum Studies and Museum Education. I chose Anthropology as a major because it combined so many of my passions- history, sociology, art, and folklore/ mythology. I have interned with several area museums including the Western Reserve Historical Society where I worked at both the History Center in University Circle creating and conducting educational programs focused on the early history of the Western Reserve as well as performing as a costumed interpreter at Hale Farm. I approach tutoring with similar ideals as the history museum- engagement and fun are key to understanding and retaining lessons. Local history is a great way to engage students and help them understand the broad historical themes covered in their classrooms and to help them relate to a subject that is, unfortunately, often presented as being boring. I am an upbeat and enthusiastic person by nature and my passion for history and culture comes through in all my lessons.
