I provide Math and Reading tutoring to those from early childhood through basic college level math. My approach is structured and supportive, and especially tailored towards those who struggle with Math, or who have math anxiety. I have 15 years experience both teaching in the classroom and tutoring, including those with autism and special needs. I also tutor OGT and college preparatory tests. I give assessments to determine where the areas of weakness are, and streamline my approach to how the student learns best. I always communicate the student's progress to the parents. If given permission by the parent, I contact the teacher and work in conjunction with him or her to set the appropriate goals.
My credentials are as follows: I have a State of Ohio lifetime certificate to teach in nontax schools, a current State of Ohio Substitute Teaching License, and am listed as an HQT (highly qualified tutor) with the State of Ohio through tutoring for their online Virtual Academy. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
