About Arnetta

Bio

Hello.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in Chemistry. I have been an honor student from third grade all the way through college. In college I was a Presidential Scholar, meaning I maintained a 4.0 GPA for several semesters. My tutoring experience goes back to high school as I was a peer tutor and continued through college. As a Math teacher at a private boarding school, I set up a peer tutoring program which proved to be very successful.

Individuals I have helped progress have been from various academic competence levels and grade levels from k-adult. I have worked in suburban and urban school districts in Ohio, Mississippi, Louisiana and Michigan. My professional training and experience include other proven renowned tutoring agencies and Cleveland Reads training to tutor through the Cleveland Red Cross.

If the student does not like the subject I can help build an appreciation that will help increase the student's willingness and achievement with small goals that turn into huge success.
I am licensed by the Ohio Department of Education in Mathematics 7-12. I also teach high school students at a local college to build skills to succeed at passing the SAT, ACT.

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have been teaching Algebra 2 for three years.
Chemistry

Chemistry

The topics in AP Chemistry we will discuss will help in preparing for the AP exam and the class. The topics covered will be the structure of matter, states of matter, reactions, lab experiments a well as mathematical computations among other topics.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra is the study of linear sets of equations and their transformation properties. Leading up to this course the student has dealt extensively with linear equations primarily concerning calculations and some application word problems. A good foundation in Calculus is helpful. Linear Algebra will delve deep into the theory of linear equations. Topics include, but are not limited to linear systems, Gauss method, vector spaces, linear maps computing, matrices, determinants, eigenvectors, eigenvalues, projections and techniques of proofs.
Physical Science

Physical Science

The central theme in physical science is the study of matter leading to the development of the atomic model. The course also has a major focus on units, unit conversions, and unit analysis as a method of problem solving. Students should perform experiments and be introduced to the proper experimental documentation methods. To introduce the written emphasis to science, students should submit written reports on selected experiments. In broad terms, the course divides naturally into three parts. The course provides the empirical framework without which the atomic model becomes an answer in search of a question. The progression is from what is around us in the greatest abundance, namely mixtures, to compounds and elements. In the process, students learn about the characteristic properties by which substances are recognized and separated. No distinction is made between physical and chemical properties.
Precalculus

Precalculus

In order to understand PreCalc it is important to have a good foundation in previous math courses , primarily Alg one and two. In precalc we will look forward to covering conic sections, polynomials, quadratics, exponential growth, rational functions, inequalities, graphing, inverse functions, compound interests and other topics based on the course outline. In the future there will be topics to introduce calculus such as derivatives and limits.
Reading

Reading

I have received training through a Teach Others To Read program in Cleveland, OH through the American Red Cross
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

The Algebra 2 portion of the course will build on Algebra 1 in that in Algebra 1 quadratics were introduced and focused on. In Algebra 2, Polynomials of higher degree will be dealt with through solving and graphing. In Trigonometry The topics include a study of functions of angles, triangles, radian measure, trigonometric equations, identities, and graphing of trigonometric functions
