I am an experienced mathematics educator with approximately eight years of teaching experience working with middle and high school students. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and am currently completing a Master of Science in Education in Curriculum and Instruction at Western Governors University. I also hold an Ohio long-term substitute teaching license. My teaching experience includes Algebra 1, middle school mathematics, math intervention, and Title I mathematics support in both traditional and charter school settings.

Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students in grades 5 through 9 with a wide range of skill levels and learning needs. I have taught Algebra 1 in the high school classroom as well as mathematics to middle school students. I have also provided small-group and individualized academic support to students who need additional help with foundational math skills. My experience has taught me how to identify gaps in understanding and adjust instruction to meet each student where they are.

My tutoring approach is patient, supportive, and step-by-step. I break difficult concepts into smaller parts, model examples, guide students through practice problems, and check for understanding before moving forward. I especially enjoy helping students understand equations, inequalities, functions, graphing, slope, and other Algebra 1 concepts. My goal is not only to help students complete their assignments, but also to build their mathematical confidence and help them understand why the mathematics works.
