Creative and energetic, I am inspired by my students every day and I look forward to challenging them. Tutoring is a way for me to connect with others one on one in order to help my students become better learners. I believe that young adults can change the world through words and they can share their voices to inspire and it is my job to guide them on that journey. I believe it is my job to give students tools in order to experience, appreciate, and understand the roots of our language in order to express them in their own writing.
I have successfully taught English Literature and Composition and have been a private tutor for over 28 years. Also, I am the recipient of several fellowships and awards throughout my career in teaching. Some of these include winning an exemplary educator award where I was the keynote speaker at graduation, a summer fellowship to study at the Globe Theater Teacher Institute in London, and a second a fellowship to study at the Folger Institute in D.C. where I spent a month learning innovative approaches to teaching Shakespeare while researching primary resources at the Folger Library. Another scholarship I won was through Fund for Teachers where I spent two weeks studying creative writing at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. These fellowships have been career-changing experiences that challenged me to teach in a whole new way.
My students span from kindergarteners to adult learners. I have extensive experience in teaching the college essay, reading comprehension, grammar, and test preparation. My lessons are individually designed to give students the tools for becoming better readers and writers and ultimately becoming better students who are prepared for the challenges they will face in the age of AI. Proofreading, proper grammar, and revising are separate, yet essential tasks that I have spent my entire career perfecting and now would like to share them so you, too, can become a better writer and an overall better student.

With over two decades of dedicated service in education, I am a seasoned English educator and private tutor committed to moving students beyond surface-level learning toward true conceptual mastery. My career is built on the belief that literacy and critical thinking are the foundations of student success, both in the classroom and on high-stakes standardized assessments. My approach integrates rigorous academic standards with a focus on executive functioning. I empower students to take ownership of their learning by developing essential skills in time management, organization, and effective note-taking. This holistic method ensures that students do not just improve their grades, but also build the cognitive habits necessary for lifelong success. I hold a Master’s in Education from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor’s from the University of Dayton. My credentials include a 5-year Ohio Teaching Certificate (Grades 7-12) and a specialized K-12 Reading Licensure, allowing me to bridge literacy gaps for learners at every level.
