Hi! My name is Ru, and I am a 3rd-year medical student at a T30 U.S. MD school. As a 1st-gen medical student, I know how overwhelming this path can feel without guidance. I am grateful to the mentors who supported me, and am excited to pay it forward by helping aspiring medical students navigate their own journey. Whether you're a 1st-year undergrad or currently applying to med school, I am here to support you.

I graduated from WashU with degrees in Anthropology and Healthcare Management. To avoid a gap year, I completed both majors and all pre-med requirements in 4 years. It wasn’t easy, but it taught me how to work efficiently! At WashU, I served as a peer advisor through the Dean’s Office, supporting students with academic planning and grad school applications. I was personally selected for this role by my Dean, based on extensive past experience tutoring STEM subjects and holding leadership positions in state/national Student Council during high school. I have worked with dozens of students, both formally and informally, in this capacity.

In medical school, I have mentored students via various preclinical electives and student-run organizations. Most relevant to career development, I have also served as an interviewer for the medical school admissions committee for 2 years. Through these experiences, I am familiar with the components necessary to be a strong applicant, and would like to share those with you.

Other relevant stats include a 520+ MCAT (98th percentile), 3.99 Undergrad GPA, 4.0 Science GPA, and a Passed USMLE Step 1.

I believe that creating a narrative that is authentic to you is the most essential aspect of getting into medical school. I will work with you to highlight these aspects of your application, and create a story that not only showcases why you would be an excellent physician, but why any program would be lucky to have you.

Career Development

Career Development

I am a current medical student at a top 30 medical school. I successfully underwent the medical school application process without a gap year. My previous tutoring experiences include 2 years of peer advising at my undergraduate university, leading pre-clinical electives for younger medical students, mentoring students in research and other collegiate activities over several years, and serving as an interviewer for my medical school admissions committee for 2 years.
College Counseling

College Counseling

I served as an applications and career advisor through my Dean's Office during my time in undergrad. I was specifically selected for this role by my Dean because of my experiences working with students prior to college, as well as my informal mentees during undergrad. I have worked with dozens of students over the last several years, both from my high school and other extra curriculars, to edit personal statements and college lists.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

As a part of my previous work in the Dean's Office, I helped dozens of students prepare for interviews for student clubs, internship opportunities, medical school, and more. I am even helping a student currently who is applying to medical school this cycle with interview prep. For my own medical school application cycle, I went through 10+ mock interviews with my career office, as well as 10 interviews during the cycle. All of these experiences combined make me well suited to assist students and young professionals with interview prep in any capacity.

Good med school mentor!

Ru and I had a good first session where we went through all of my application, and chose where to focus based on strengths and weaknesses. We made a good plan to go forward on a solid school list, and essays. I can clearly see that she knows the ins and outs to the application system, and her help will push my application forward immensely.

Incredible tutor and mentor

I can't express enough how much I appreciate the guidance and support I have received so far from Ruchika! Her attention to detail, thoughtful feedback, and willingness to understand my experiences have truly elevated my secondary responses. She makes sure my personality and aspirations shine through in every application. Her thoughtful approach and consistent support have been invaluable. Every session leaves me feeling more confident in my application, knowing that I am presenting my best self. I am grateful for her insight, which goes beyond the surface level, helping me to develop impactful and genuine responses. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor who not only helps with editing but truly invests in their success. I am excited to continue working with her throughout the application cycle!
