Being raised by a mother who was a kindergarten teacher for 32 years and a father who taught on the college level I have been involved in teaching all my life. I decided many years after I graduated with my undergraduate degree to go back to college to get my Masters degree. That was a huge accomplishment for me. Being able to help student(s) to have a moment when they begin to understand what I am teaching them after working extremely hard to master the skill(s) we are working on is a "magic" moment for me. It gives me the satisfaction that our hard work has paid off and my student feels a sense of accomplishment and pride. I have worked in the public school system for (10) years. One of my greatest joys is for the ESL- English Is A Second Language students I work with on a daily basis learn the English alphabet letters, the sound each letter makes, colors, numbers, and learn to read in English. Our relationship is so very special built on trust, understanding, patience, respect, and a love for wanting to learn. This is what makes me smile with a sense of accomplishment when my student excel in their education and in their own lives while making learning interesting, relevant and fun.
Receiving a TESOL certification from Oxford Seminars which focuses on teaching ESL/ELL students is one of the highlights in my life. Teaching students that don't know any English, students who have limited English proficiency and students who are proficient in English is a pleasure. How exciting it is to work with students which are eager to learn while soaking up information like sponges is a tremendous feeling. Learning how to read, write, and understand what one is reading is monumental. My goal is to make learning interesting and fun while challenging students without having them feel overwhelmed. By giving students homework related to their classroom instruction gives students a chance to have additional material to work on for mastering the skill they are working on.
I do my best to be flexible with my time in meeting
