I have recently retired after teaching HS Math for 32 years. I loved every minute of working with students of all levels of understanding, helping them to be successful mathematicians. I have taught Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and for all of my 32 years, Honors Pre-Calculus. One of my greatest accomplishments was learning how to co-teach an Algebra I course to students who were identified with math goals on an IEP. For the last 8 years of my career, I was lucky to prep this course with an intervention specialist who taught me how to assess a student by chunking, modeling, and scribing for them when needed. I learned better and more appropriate ways to teach basic Algebra I concepts. I was also lucky enough to run the Math Lab, a place where unidentified students with math needs could come for extra help. I really enjoyed working one on one with students and watching their confidence and their success grow.
I look forward to helping many more young people grow in their math abilities. Go Math!
